About

Some prefer the carrot, some prefer the stick; this page is for all out there who know you need both.

I set this up because I’m sick of seeing personal development and improvement either be the subject of some feeble minded love song which usually ryhmes “love” with ” you wipe your dick before slapping me in the face with it, which was nice of you- I’m gonna drop everything and rely on your manlogic to get me through life” or else it ends up getting pushed into that damned colloseum of middle aged people who think “Well shucks, I’ve gotten to a ripe old age without giving much of a fuck about anything, I’m gonna copy and paste the shit out of some inspirational quotes then sit back happy in the knowledge that someone on Oprah is telling me exactly what I want to hear”.

I’m sick of it. Personal development isn’t a fashion choice, twelve likes on an aspirational facebook comment, or a once in a lifetime action. It’s a long hard slog. You push yourself out of your bubble just enough to challenge your own views then that resulting realisation kicks you in the teeth for having the ignorance to believe you were alright as you were. You’re not. You can do a lot better. You can do a whole lot better.

As for me? I’m nothing special. You don’t need to know much about me. The only thing you need to know is that if at any point I start to sound like some evangelist preaching love and openminded understanding of the world to you without balancing it out with a coldhearted challenge to keep pushing yourself, I want you to call me out on it.

(as far as the name is concerned, this has absolutely nothing to do with faith or prayer… I’ve just been listening to a lot of Leftfield lately)

“I’m gonna copy and paste the shit out of some inspirational quotes then sit back happy in the knowledge that someone on Oprah is telling me exactly what I want to hear”

So true! Too often, I think, people borrow inspirational quotes from people they don’t know and have nothing to do with and wait for life to happen in such a way that they can whip their little pearl of wisdom out. Agreed- this is should not be enough for anyone. Love your work, very perceptive :)
